Our mission is to serve God and to serve others for the glory of God’s name, and to carry out the new command given to us by Jesus Christ which is to “love one another; As I have loved you” (John 13:34) – that is, with Agape love.

At Wesley Agape, we are more than just an Indonesian community; we are a family bonded by love and compassion. We are a home for many young Indonesian families and international students.

We believe in our calling from God: to love and care for our community and those in genuine need, and to help young people and families thrive in every aspect of their lives. We believe that love is best demonstrated by action.

We welcome teenagers to a youth-friendly environment where they can worship God, learn and grow spiritually in their own expression. In our gathering, we encourage the teens to build friendships and serve each other with love using their God-given talents.

Our goal is to help every teenager take a deep root in Christ’s love and realise their unique God-given purpose and potential. Come and join us.

We provide children with fun and educative experiences in a classroom environment so that parents can have the space to worship God and be refreshed by the Word of God.

Our Sunday School program caters to children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Come and join us.

EPIC Young Adult

 

EPIC (short for Empowering People in Christ) is a family away from home for young first-generation immigrants. Our goal is to instill the character of Christ in the lives of young Indonesians. We welcome them into a community that helps them in Sydney and be on a path to success and to become contributing individuals in an abroad country.

We were young too once and we can have fun. It is what Senior gathering is all about.

Agape has a strong elderly community as its members. We gather every month to celebrate God’s goodness in our golden years.

Cell Group

 

Started as a community-based church, we believe in the power of small groups as a space of friendship and support. Agape hosts more than 14 cell group gatherings across Sydney CBD, Inner West, South Sydney, and the Hills District. A typical cell group session will include Bible sharing, personal testimonies, prayer and petition, and food fellowship.

Prayer Meeting

As we seek spiritual growth, encouragement, and a deeper connection with God, we are reminded of the power of prayer. We invite you to join our online prayer meeting (in Bahasa Indonesia) every Wednesday at 7:15 PM, where we come together as part of a church family and intercessors.

  • Senior Pastor

    Stephen & Susana Tanuwijaya

    First joining Wesley International Congregation in 1986, several years later, I was called by God to become a pastor. And in 1998, I was appointed to lead a new church called Agape Indonesian Christian Fellowship, which was ordained by the Indonesian Christian Church International. In 1999, Agape affiliated with the Churches of Christ, NSW, and the Synod of Indonesian Christian Fellowship in Indonesia.

    As our congregation multiplied and we outgrew our locations, God interceded, and I reconnected with Wesley Mission. After starting a three-year discernment journey, on 1 July 2021, I became Senior Pastor of Wesley Agape Indonesian Congregation and was commissioned by the Uniting Church of Australia on 15 September 2021.

    Prior to ministry, I studied at medical school in Indonesia. When I moved to Australia in 1976, I did further studies and worked in private pathology in endocrinology for 18 years. With my wife Susana, we have twin daughters and five grandchildren.

  • Youth Ministry Director

    Yovie Margaretha & Handy Lutarto

    Born into a faithful Christian family, I have personally encountered God early in life and have been ministering at church since a very young age in Indonesia.
    I felt called to study and deepen my knowledge to advance in the ministry God has called me to. I responded to the calling by pursuing a Bachelor of Theology in Pastoral Ministry at the age of 19.

    After completing my studies, I migrated to Sydney and continued my ministry at Agape Church, leading the first-generation Indonesian youth group. I am married to my husband, a long-serving Agape volunteer who has been faithfully serving in the music and sound ministry.

    Wesley Agape is home to us. We are deeply committed to serving God and ministering to His people. We fervently believe that God is and will continue to do great things for the current and future generations. It is a great honour to be part of God’s mission.

  • Youth Ministry Director (2nd Generation)

    William Yap & Gracia Anwar

    Agape has been my spiritual home for over two decades. At this Indonesian Church, I encountered the love of Jesus Christ and responded to the calling of salvation through the faithful leadership and ministry of Pastor Stephen and Susana Tanuwijaya.

    In 2023, I was called to lead the second-generation teen ministry as a Youth Ministry Director. I decided to step away from a full-time senior management role at a digital marketing agency in response to the calling and the prophetic word I received in 2018: "Will, I see you standing on a stage speaking to young people. Only speak about the Good News and preach about grace."

    Together with faithful volunteers, we formed the Agape Teen Service in April 2023, in addition to the Sunday School Children's ministry. It is a space where teens can worship and learn more about God in their expression and develop their Christian faith and meaningful friendships.

    I am a husband and a father of two cheeky children (they got it from me!) I am currently studying for a Graduate Diploma in Theology.

Inside Wesley Centre, you can find our 1pm family service in Wesley Theatre (Lower Ground), youth service 1pm in Wesley Church (Ground Floor), and 6pm family service in Wesley Church (Ground Floor).

The Wesley Centre is just a 5 min walk from Town Hall Station and St James Station.

Parking on Sundays is a flat rate of $15.00.
